How to send interface commands to the cash register/printer from a computer?

Fiscal printer mode

To establish communication between a cash register/printer and a computer, the fiscal device must be put into a particular mode. Settings must be configured differently for each manufacturer to establish the connection. This operation is described in detail in each cash register's manual. The list below describes the main options, but your cash register may have specific requirements. Please contact the company servicing your fiscal device for assistance. To connect the two devices, COM port drivers must be installed. This is not necessary for Windows 10 and Android users.

What should the service company do?
  • Install software for programming the fiscal device on the computer where I-CASH will be used (optional).
  • Establish a hardware connection between the fiscal device and computer, providing a communication cable/adapter and drivers for the relevant operating system.
  • Print diagnostic information confirming the connection between the fiscal device and its computer, if the service company is on site.
  • Program the range of invoice numbers to be issued by the cash register.
  • Program the fiscal device to establish communication between it and I-CASH. See the table. The next image shows an example with operator 2 on the cash register using password 2, automatically generated in I-CASH when registering on the website. If this operator does not exist, it must be programmed. Creating a new inventory account in I-CASH automatically generates three users; see the image below. Program operators according to the following pattern: operator 2 – password 2; operator 3 – password 3; operator 4 – password 4, and so on, if the cash register allows it.

Note: Operators 2 to 19 can currently be programmed. Operators 20 to 29 will be enabled in future versions.

  • You can create users in I-Cash and assign each to an operator in the fiscal device. In this example, the table shows the manager user, automatically generated by the system on registration. The image shows three users corresponding to three operators in the fiscal device. If operators with the corresponding numbers and passwords have not been programmed in the fiscal device, the connection cannot be established. Service software can be used to program operators and their passwords in the fiscal device.

Note: To change passwords in I-Cash, please email support@icash.bg explaining why they need changing and what the new passwords should be.

  • Clients can issue invoices from the fiscal device or generate them from the cloud system. To avoid duplicate invoice numbers, separate invoice ranges must be set in the fiscal device and the online platform.

Datecs OOD

For Datecs (DP-25): By default, fiscal printers use operator 1 with password 0, while cash registers use operator 1 with password 1 (see the image for entering or editing cash register operator passwords and numbers in I-Cash). These must match in both places (in Datecs, password 0001 for operator 1 must become 1, with the zeros removed; I-Cash will display the password as 1, as shown). You must also enable the computer connection in programming mode and set the speed. The password for entering programming mode on Datecs OOD devices is 30. Programming – Configuration – Communication – PC connection speed 115200 (under number 9). Programming – Configuration – Communication – PC connection also select the COM port they will connect to. Return to the main menu and go to PC Connection. The device is ready for use.

Then, when connecting to the software, select the protocol as well. Datecs has three communication protocols implemented in I-Cash. In this particular case, select Datecs cash register. Models using this protocol include DP-05, DP-25, DP-35, WP-50 and DP-150. Of the other two protocols, one is for printers without X: FP-800 / FP-2000 / FP-650 / SK1-21F / SK1-31F / FMP-10 / FP-700; the third is for printers with X, although some cash registers also use this protocol with minor differences.

Note: For the DP 25 cash register with X protocol, the operator password on the register is 0002, while in our software it is 2. A similar situation occurs with some other X-protocol fiscal devices, such as DP150x.

Note: The fiscal device must be programmed to issue duplicate receipts.

Daisy Technology OOD

Cash registers/printers have several operating modes; the one we need is PC. Navigate using the keyboard arrows (or the ON/OFF button, depending on the cash register/printer model), enter the password (usually 9999) + CLK (or OK, depending on the model), and a USB cable icon will appear on the cash register display. A fiscal printer displays 'READY' when in this mode. The cash register has 19 programmed operators, each with a password and number: operator 1 with password 1, operator 2 with password 2, and so on.

Eltrade OOD

No settings should be required. If drivers are installed, the device automatically enters PC connection mode when connected. Connection is via USB cable. Install drivers from the manufacturer's official website.

ZIT EOOD

Use the keyboard arrows to navigate to PC mode. Enter password 9999 and press TOTAL. A USB cable icon appears on the cash register display. Start the POS wizard and follow each step, selecting the COM port on which the device appears.

Tremol OOD

By default, Tremol OOD cash registers have only one user: operator 1 with cash register password 0. Enter these settings for the user in I-Cash. On the cash register, navigate to Programming / Parameters / Parameters / Fiscal printer. Set this to YES. Then enter sales mode; with these settings, communication with the POS is established.

Note: This article does not describe every option. Please contact the company from which you purchased the cash register. Each device has a manual in which the manufacturer describes the PC connection procedure in detail.

Note: If other software has been used, the cash register has most likely been reprogrammed. Please contact the company and check which settings were changed and what needs to be changed.

How do I connect a fiscal device to I-Cash?
  • Contact the company that services your fiscal devices.

What should I do if there is no connection to the cash register?
  • Check whether the fiscal device is switched on.
  • Check that it is connected to the power supply! If the device has a built-in battery, make sure it has sufficient charge.
  • Check that the fiscal device is in a mode allowing connection to a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone.
  • Check the connection cable for visible defects.
  • Check Device Manager to see whether it appears as a virtual or serial port, if using Windows with a USB and RS connection.
  • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.
  • Check whether the fiscal device appears in the list of paired devices in Android settings.
  • Check the fiscal device's status using the service program installed by the technician.
  • Restart the program.
  • Restart the computer.
