“Location” and “Cash register module” (POS)
When working with I-CASH retail and inventory software, you will certainly encounter the terms “location” and “cash register module (POS)”. Today's article explores what they are and their role in the program.
Every basic I-CASH subscription package includes one location and one point of sale (POS). Depending on each business's needs, you can request activating additional locations and cash register modules.
How do you structure your inventory account to suit your business's needs?
The main unit in I-CASH is the inventory account. The inventory account corresponds to your company. It can grow and adapt to your needs, just like your business. You can add new branches (retail locations), workstations, warehouses, user accounts, rooms and so on.
In your inventory account, you can perform operations corresponding to those in your actual company: sell, receive deliveries, print documents and much more.
To track company operations and processes precisely, the inventory account contains two main components: a location and a warehouse.
Location (warehouse)
Depending on its size, a company may have different branches, premises or warehouses. They are also important components of the I-CASH inventory account. They are called location.
We recommend defining each location or warehouse where you store goods and/or conduct business separately to ensure accurate calculations.
Examples of an I-CASH 'location': physical store, warehouse, restaurant, salon, second physical store, and so on.
In I-CASH, you can choose which location receives goods and which location sells them. You can transfer goods between locations.

Example:
You run a clothing business with two physical stores and a main warehouse.
=> These are three separate locations. The first physical store is your main location and is included in your subscription plan. Location 2 (Store 2) and Location 3 (Warehouse) are additional paid locations.
POS module
The cash register module is the ideal addition to any workstation where sales take place.
What do we mean by a workstation?
If your company's workload increases, you may need to add a workstation. A new workstation includes an employee, additional equipment suitable for retail operations, and so on. A workstation is different from a location. One sales location may have many workstations, while a location used only as a warehouse may have none.
The relationship between a workstation equipped for retail and the cash register module (POS) in I-CASH
I-CASH contains two modules: a web platform and a quick sales module (POS).
The connection between technical equipment (hardware) and inventory software is provided by the Quick Sales Module (POS), also called the cash register module or register.
The quick sales module (POS module) is an application installed on a computer, tablet or mobile device.
When a quick sales module is installed and open on a device, this means a workstation is activated. It is conventionally called a cash register module, POS or register.
One I-CASH POS module serves one workstation.
Why is the cash register module the ideal addition to every workstation?
Through the Quick Sales Module (cash register module / POS):
- Pair your fiscal device/other peripherals with I-CASH;
- Make sales, even offline
- Forward every transaction to the I-CASH web interface. This organizes and consolidates every transaction carried out at the inventory account's different cash register modules.

Example:
You have a grocery store. The store has checkouts (places where customers pay for the goods they wish to buy). Each checkout is a separate workstation staffed by a different employee, with its own equipment: a computer, fiscal device, barcode reader and so on.
=> These are three separate workstations. They need three active cash register modules (checkouts), even though they are in one location. The first cash register module (POS 1) is included in the subscription plan. The second (POS 2) and third (POS 3) are additional paid checkouts.
Example 2:
You have a delivery sales company. You have three employees working at the same time. Each works on a separate mobile device.
=> You have three sales workstations and need three active POS modules. The first module (POS 1) is included in your subscription. The second (POS 2) and third (POS 3) are available for an additional fee.
