Establishing communication with ELICOM electronic scales
How to connect I-Cash to an ELICOM scale
Elicom Electronic has been on the Bulgarian market for 25 years. Its products are familiar to Bulgarian retailers. This article responds to increasingly frequent inquiries from our clients. The operating manual explains how communication with external devices is established. Here is an excerpt.
The scales have several built-in communication protocols, activated by configuring the CASH XX parameter in service mode 1. The transmission speed is set with the T button (the left digit on the display), and the cash register type with the PRT button (the right digit on the display). Communication takes place through CHANNEL 1. Channel 2 is mainly intended for connection to a label printer.

For example, CASH 43 means a speed of 9600 for a Daisy cash register. When connected to a cash register, the scale responds to weight requests through the interface, but can also transmit the weight of a balanced load…
Author's note: The same protocol is used to communicate with ICASH. A connection via an RS232 cable is required, with an RS232-to-USB adapter and appropriate drivers if needed. The cable must be purchased from the manufacturer.
